The Federal Government announced on Wednesday the advisor to the Prime Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, removed from the National Finance Commission (NFC).

According to the attorney general, a new notice regarding the establishment of NFC has been filed with the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

In addition, the plea by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khurrum Dastgir against the formation of NFC has been closed.

On May 19, 2020, PML-N contested the formation of the 10th National Finance Commission before the Islamabad High Court.

The petition stated that the NFC is responsible for ensuring that funds are distributed fairly between the association and the provinces. On April 23, the Pakistani president formed an eleven-member commission, the finance department said.

According to the PML-N petition, it was necessary to consult the governors before consulting a financial advisor and a financial secretary. However, no communication with a provincial governor was mentioned in the communication.
