Egypt: Protesters gathered on Presidential Palace

(eNews.pk) - CAIRO: Tens of thousands of Egyptian protesters surrounded the presidential palace Tuesday after riot police failed to hold them off with tear gas, a growing crisis on the decree of President Mohamed Morsi to expand their powers.




Protesters cut barbed wire a few hundred meters (yards) from the palace, prompting police to fire tear gas before retiring and allow the protesters to reach the palace walls, AFP correspondents.
Morsi himself was not in the palace, a presidential aide told AFP. A security official said "the President left the palace Itihadiya on schedule after the official meetings."
A video posted online by the Egyptian news network Rassd showed a convoy leaving the palace through a cordon of riot police as protesters shouted "coward" and "out".

قاہرہ … مصر میں آئین میں ہونے والی تبدیلیوں کے خلاف مصر کے عوام کا احتجاج جاری ہے، ہزاروں لوگ مصری صدر کے محل پہنچ گئے جبکہ کچھ لوگوں نے ایوان صدر کے دروازے پر چڑھنے کی کوشش بھی کی۔ ایوان صدر پر ہلہ بولنے والے مظاہرین کو منتشر کرنے کیلئے پولیس نے آنسو گیس پھینکی جس سے 21 افراد زخمی ہوگئے۔ صدر مرسی نے 15 دسمبر کو ہونے والے ریفرنڈم اسی عدلیہ کے زیرنگرانی کرانے پر آمادگی ظاہر کردی ہے جس کے بارے میں قوی خیال ہے کہ وہ سابق ڈکٹیٹر حسنی مبارک کی متعین کردہ عدلیہ ہے۔ ذرائع کے مطابق صدر مرسی ایوان صدر سے محفوظ مقام کی طرف روانہ ہوگئے ہیں مگر وہ حالات سے بالکل بھی پریشان نہیں ہیں۔ مصر کی حکمراں جماعت اخوان المسلمون کا کہنا ہے کہ حالات بہتری کی طرف جا رہے ہیں اور بہت جلد صورت حال معمول پر آجائے گی۔ منگل کو اسٹاک ایکس چینج میں بھی اضافہ دیکھا گیا ہے۔
