The Election Commission officials had expressed displeasure over the allegations leveled by federal ministers, saying that the Election Commission is a constitutional body and the allegations against it were baseless and unacceptable.

بعد میں وفاقی وزیر اطلاعات فواد چوہدری نے کہا کہ الیکشن کمیشن اپوزیشن کا ہیڈ کوارٹر بن گیا ہے۔ اگر چیف الیکشن کمشنر سیاست کرنا چاہتے ہیں تو انہیں استعفیٰ دے کر الیکشن لڑنا چاہیے۔ چیف الیکشن کمشنر اپوزیشن کا منہ بن چکا ہے۔ وہ نواز شریف کے ساتھ قریبی رابطے میں ہیں۔
الیکشن کمیشن کے حکام نے وفاقی وزرا کی جانب سے لگائے گئے الزامات پر برہمی کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے کہا تھا کہ الیکشن کمیشن ایک آئینی ادارہ ہے اور اس کے خلاف الزامات بے بنیاد اور ناقابل قبول ہیں۔
