34 killed in Bangladesh protests

(eNews.pk) - DHAKA: At least 34 people were killed in Bangladesh in a wave of violence Thursday as protesters reacted angrily to a decision that one should hang their leaders for war crimes.




At least 23 of them were killed during clashes between police and demonstrators that erupted after Delwar Hossain Sayedee, vice president of Jamaat-e-Islami, was convicted of war crimes, including including murder, rape and arson.
Sayedee is the third person to be convicted by the court of national controversy with previous verdicts were also greeted with indignation protesters who say the process is more about settling scores justice.

ڈھاکہ…بنگلا دیش میں جماعت اسلامی کے ایک اور رہنما کو موت کی سزا سنادی گئی۔ فیصلے کے خلاف مظاہرین اور پولیس کے درمیان جھڑپوں میں 34 افراد جاں بحق ہوگئے۔ جماعت اسلامی کے نائب سربراہ 73 سالہ دلاورحسین سعیدی کو 1971 کی جنگ میں پاکستان کاساتھ دینے پرنام نہاد جنگی جرائم کے الزام میں سزا سنائی گئی۔ فیصلے کے خلاف جماعت اسلامی کے کارکن سڑکوں پر نکل آئے اور شدید احتجاج کیا۔ کئی مقامات پر پولیس اور مظاہرین میں جھڑپیں ہوئیں اور مارے گئے افراد میں دو پولیس اہلکار بھی شامل ہیں۔ 21 جنوری سے اب تک جماعت اسلامی بنگلادیش کے تین رہنماوٴں کو سزائے موت سنائی جاچکی ہے۔
